Sponsorships
Major child welfare organizations ask you to “sponsor a child,” allowing you, the supporter, to fall into the belief that you are the only active participant in this relationship. To understand the program, we invite you to learn about the different ways our children take participation in the sponsorship program into their own hands.
Step One
At SOLAHIS, we deeply value having children in our sponsorship program who have an assessed need. This need can take many different forms, such as originating from a low-income family who cannot provide the physical, mental, and educational support needed, among other things. Once a need is established, the children begin to take ownership of the process.
Step Two
At this time, the children are asked to meet a set of requirements. An example would be to participate in set classes for a predetermined period of time, fully attend school, and achieve passing grades. A probationary period is set with the goal of setting the hopeful child up for long-term success at SOLAHIS.
Step Three
Once the child has successfully completed the probationary period, a profile is created and sent to Canada to find a sponsor. Most commonly these children are sponsored at our gala as it gives people an opportunity to learn more about each child!
Sponsorships We Offer
At SOLAHIS, we offer two kinds of sponsorships, children and university students. Each of these sponsorship types is incredibly important and equally valued. Please browse the sections to the right to learn more about each kind of sponsorship.

As an organization, we can fundraise, we can start up programs and hope the children of our community come, participate and fully commit to the program. However, when you introduce sponsorship as an option, a feeling of accountability and community are brought into the program. As a sponsor, you are given the privilege of building a relationship with a child in Colombia through sending letters, photos, and gifts. Every year you will receive an update about your specific child and be given the opportunity to travel down to Colombia to meet them. We have seen an incredible impact the sponsor has on our children and we would love to invite you to join us in this important aspect of our program.

Child sponsorship is our general $50 a month, or $600 a year, program where there is one sponsor per child. This money goes towards general costs associated with supporting the child, including meals, uniforms, school supplies, and health care.

University supporters are for our children who have graduated from grade school and are looking to pursue post-secondary education. Due to the cost associated with university studies, there can be up to 10 supporters per child to cover all costs. This sponsorship costs $50 per month, and you will receive a yearly update on the school's progress.
